What is the Thomas GIA?▾
The General Intelligence Assessment (GIA) is a psychometric test published by Thomas International. It measures five cognitive abilities: Reasoning, Perceptual Speed, Number Speed & Accuracy, Word Meaning, and Spatial Visualisation.
Employers use GIA scores to assess a candidate's learning speed and potential. GIA Practice lets you prepare for this test by practising all five sections in a timed, realistic format.
Is this app affiliated with Thomas International?▾
No. GIA Practice is an independent preparation tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Thomas International Ltd in any way. "Thomas GIA" and "Thomas International" are trademarks of their respective owners.
Is GIA Practice free to use?▾
Yes, GIA Practice is free to download and use.
Which platforms is the app available on?▾
GIA Practice is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
What does each GIA section test?▾
- Reasoning — deduce a conclusion from two comparative statements (e.g. "A is taller than B, B is taller than C — who is shortest?").
- Perceptual Speed — count how many letter pairs in a row show the exact same letter.
- Number Speed & Accuracy — from a set of numbers, identify which is furthest from the median.
- Word Meaning — spot which of three words does not belong with the other two.
- Spatial Visualisation — count how many symbol pairs show the same symbol (rotation only counts as a match; mirror images do not).
How many questions are in each assessment mode?▾
- Short — 15 questions (3 per section), ~7 minutes
- Standard — 25 questions (5 per section), ~12 minutes
- Full — 50 questions (10 per section), ~22 minutes
- Section Practice — up to 10 questions for one section only
All questions are timed individually, matching the format of the real assessment.
Where is my progress data stored?▾
Your test history is stored entirely on your device using your phone's local storage. No data is sent to any server or third party. Uninstalling the app will permanently delete your history.
How do I clear my test history?▾
Open the app, tap the progress icon in the top-right corner of the home screen, scroll to the bottom of your history, and tap Clear history. You will be asked to confirm before anything is deleted.
How many attempts are saved?▾
The app keeps your 20 most recent attempts. Older attempts are automatically removed when the limit is reached.
Which languages does the app support?▾
GIA Practice is fully available in English, French (Français), and Arabic (العربية), including full right-to-left layout support for Arabic.
You can switch the language at any time by tapping the language button in the top-right corner of the home screen.
Will more languages be added?▾
We're considering adding more languages based on user demand. If you'd like to see your language supported, please email us at support@giatest.com.
The app crashed or behaves unexpectedly. What should I do?▾
Try the following steps:
- Force-close the app and reopen it.
- Ensure you have the latest version installed from the App Store or Google Play.
- Restart your device.
If the problem persists, please email support@giatest.com with your device model, OS version, and a description of what happened.
Does the app require an internet connection?▾
No. All questions, translations, and your progress history are stored on your device. The app works fully offline after installation.
